what
is an enhanced cd? an enhanced cd is a music cd
that contains extra information which is accessed when your
cd is placed into your computer's cd-rom drive.
do
enhanced cds work in my regular cd player? yes,
they certainly do. enhanced cds work the same as any other
music cd in a regular cd player.
so
what's the difference? the difference is: you can
bring much more than just your music to your audience
does
it cost more to make? nope. whether you are manufacturing
a regular music cd or an enhanced cd, the cost is the same.
the only extra cost of an enhanced cd is the cost of producing
whatever "added information" you wish to include on your cd.
if you supply us with your finished, ready-to-go enhanced
cd master we'll just send it off into production and manufacture
it "as is"... no extra charge to you at all.

why
would I want an enhanced cd? why
wouldn't you?!? okay, here's the deal: an average
cd holds about 74 minutes of audio information, that's equivalent
to about 650MB... that means that for every minute of music
you are using about 8.7MB of space. now,
if your average cd holds 12 songs at about 3.5 minutes per
song... then your average cd is only using about 365MB of
space... that leaves about 285MB of unused space... that's
a lot of space!!!
what
can you do with that extra space? whatever you
want! do you have a webpage? how much is that webspace costing
you? how much webspace do you have? ponder this: this
entire website (www.ablyproductions.com) is only about
3.5MB in size... you could fit 81 ablyproductions.coms
into the left over space on your average music cd! well okay,
you probably wouldn't have any use for 81 copies of this website
on your cd, but think about how much stuff you can put on
there... basic stuff like HTML documents that link to your
website... better stuff like band pictures and bios... even
better stuff like video clips of your band playing live...
way better stuff like an interactive environment that allows
the user to click on buttons and pull up menus and...
one
more use for the wasted space on your music cd: advertising.
why not?!? advertising is what keeps the world economy moving.
it's on the internet, it's on t.v., it's on the radio, it's
in your magazines, it's on buildings, and buses, and T-shirts,
cereal boxes... it's everywhere!!! how did it get there? well
someone paid to have it put there... ahhhh, now you're thinking...
you
mean someone could pay me to advertise in the unused space
of my music cd? absolutely.
who
is going to pay me for ad space on my cd?
that's up to you. if you're an independent musician you're
probably not going to sell ad space to IBM, but how about
a local music store or recording studio? even better: how
about another local band that's not quite ready to release
their own cd?... you could easily include a couple of mp3s
of their music, maybe a link to their website... think about
it, there are a lot of possibilities... did we mention
that we might be willing to swing you a deal if you include
some of our multimedia stuff on your cd???

so what if I want to go the whole nine yards and include a
really cool, interactive multimedia presentation on my cd?
